High precision shafts are made to your specific specifications. You have found the appropriate location to obtain your personalized shafts with Falcon CNC Swiss. By combining our years of expertise and cutting-edge Swiss-style CNC manufacturing processes, we are able to produce precision shafts for industries such as automotive, medical, robotics, and industrial equipment. Whether you require production of stainless steel shafts (including motor shafts), as well as complex rotary shafts and custom made shafts, we have made it our priority to simplify, speed up and provide assurance during the entire manufacturing process.

Because of your pace of life, we provide our clients with clear and concise information regarding our products. Not sensationalised or unnecessarily technical information, but rather, practical solutions from a known custom shaft manufacturer.

Why Choose Swiss-Type CNC for Your Shafts?

Our Swiss CNC machines made by Falcon offer precision and efficiency. Unlike conventional lathes which support the bar stock far away from the cutting tool, Swiss-style machining now supports the bar stock close to the cutter. This allows for less vibration, tighter tolerances, and straighter shafts; even if the part is long and thin.

Here’s what that means for you:

    • Tighter tolerances – We hold ±0.0002″ (0.005mm) on critical diameters.

    • Complex geometries – Keyways, splines, threads, cross-holes, and flats all in one setup.

    • Long, slender shafts – Up to 600mm length with excellent straightness.

    • Faster turnaround – Live tooling and sub-spindle reduce secondary ops.

    • Wide material range – Stainless steel, alloy steel, titanium, brass, and more.

“They do not just provide precision shaft machining; they help you design your part to be manufacturable.” – An established OEM customer.

Precision Ground Shafting & Surface Finishes

Many applications require precision ground shafting for smooth rotation or sealing surfaces.

We offer precision shafting with grinding options to achieve:

    • Ra 4–8 µin finishes

    • Tight diameter control for bearing fits

    • Improved wear resistance

We also provide industrial shaft fabrication for heavy-duty equipment, and transmission shaft manufacturing process control to ensure every spline and keyseat aligns perfectly.

Materials Expertise – Stainless Steel & Beyond

Stainless steel is our bread and butter. But we also work with:

    • Carbon steel (1018, 1045, 1144)

    • Alloy steel (4140, 4340, 8620)

    • Tool steel (O1, A2, D2)

    • Brass, bronze, copper

    • Titanium (grade 2, 5)

    • Plastics (Delrin, PEEK, Nylon)

Need a steel shaft price quickly? Send us your drawing and quantity. We’ll come back with a competitive quote – often within 24 hours.

    Industries We Serve

    • Medical & surgical tools – tiny precision shafts for bone drills and robotic surgery

    • Automotive – transmission shafts, spline shafts, sensor shafts

    • Robotics & automation – linear shafts, rotary shafts, actuator shafts

    • Aerospace – high-strength alloy shafts, precision shaft machining for flight controls

    Frequently Asked Questions

What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ) for producing custom shafts?

There is no fixed MOQ. We produce prototypes in runs from 10 to 20 shafts and can also handle large production runs of 100,000+ shafts. With custom motor shafts or precision shaft machining, we welcome the production of small batch quantities - we will just adjust the setup accordingly.

How close of a tolerance can you achieve with stainless steel shafts?

For stainless steel shaft production, we typically hold tolerance levels of +/- 0.0002" (0.005 mm) on diameter; however, for critical features such as bearing journals, we can achieve even tighter tolerances with the use of grinding. Please provide your GD&T callout for us to quote after your review.

Do you produce precision ground shafting & polishing?

Yes! We produce precision ground shafting down to Ra 4 - 8 µin surface finishes. We also offer centerless grinding, superfinishing, and polishing services, both ideal for linear and rotary shafts used in high-speed applications.

Can you manufacture spline shafts and keyway shafts?

Yes, we can manufacture CNC machined spline shafts (involute, serrated, straight) and keyway shafts. Our Swiss CNC machine with live tooling has the ability to cut splines and keyseats during a single setup, allowing for perfect concentricity.

What is the lead time for a custom shaft order?

For prototype quantities (10 - 200 pieces), we typically have a 2 - 3-week lead time. For bulk motor shafts or large-volume orders, we typically have a 4 - 6 - week lead time depending on the material(s) and complexity of the components. We have rush services available upon request.
