Stainless Steel Grades We Work With

We provide machining services for many types of stainless steel alloys, with both standard and specialty grades available to meet the needs of our customers. Our sources are dependable, but we will accept customer supplied materials if they need specific certifications or have leftover material from previous production.

    • 303 SS is the free machining stainless steel for high volume production runs of turned and threaded parts made from stainless steels.

    • 304 SS, the most common grade of austenitic stainless steel, is great for food handling, sanitary fittings, and general industrial uses; our production processes have been set up to produce the greatest amount of machined parts from 304 stainless steel.

    • 316 SS, an austenitic stainless steel with superior resistance to corrosion due to both chloride ions and seawater, is the best option for any marine, chemical, or medical applications; our company has extensive experience machining 316 stainless steel.

    • 17-4 PH SS is a precipitation hardened stainless steel that combines high strength with moderate corrosion resistance; it is used in aerospace, defense, and pump shaft applications.

    • 416 SS is a martensitic free machining stainless steel that can be heat treated; it is typically used to manufacture gears, shafts, and valves.

    • 440C SS is known for its very high hardness and wear resistance; it is commonly used to manufacture bearings, ball valves, and cutting tools.

Upon request, we will provide mill certificates for all materials we supply, and we can provide material testing and certification for critical aerospace and medical applications.

Industries We Serve with Stainless Steel CNC Parts

We serve many industries by providing stainless steel part machining services. Here are a few examples of typical items we manufacture for different applications:

    • Medical and surgical instruments, orthopedic trial components, dental tools, connectors used to handle fluids.

    • Custom SS fittings products such as hydraulic fitting actuator components and sensor housing structural brackets.

    • Sanitary fittings, bodies of valves, pumps made of either 304 or 316 stainless steel for food and beverage applications.

    • High-pressure fittings; gauge adapters; and orifice plates (316 and 17-4 PH) for the oil and gas/chemical processing industries.

    • Fuel system components, turbocharger parts, and exhaust flange for automotive and motorsport products.

    • Parts used in industrial automation robotics arms, linear motion components, or custom shafts.

We will continue our commitment to quality assurance following rigorous quality controls during every manufacturing operation provided for our customers. The inspection process is thorough; we inspect every batch at multiple points during machining operations. In addition, we perform final inspection of each batch using the following methods: CMM, surface profilometer and optical measurements. We will use statistical process control (SPC) during mass production of high volumes of parts; therefore, we will ensure the same quality across a minimum of tens of thousands of manufactured parts.

    Why Falcon CNC Swiss?

We don't just say we're experts; we demonstrate it on a daily basis. Customers who have chosen us as their favored provider of stainless steel CNC machining services and steel machining supplier have been with us for many years for the following reasons:

    Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

    1.  What is the minimum order quantity for stainless steel part machining?

We do not have an established minimum order quantity for the machining of stainless steel plastic parts. We will accept an order of as few as 25‑50 pieces for prototype production. We also specialize in large scale (100,000+) productions. Just let us know your requirements.

    2. Which stainless steel grades are easiest to machine?

Of all the stainless steel grades, 303 stainless steel is the easiest to machine because it contains sulphur. 303 stainless steel is recommended for high-volume machining of stainless steel parts (turning) and for more complicated parts. Likewise, we can machine 304, 316, 17-4, and other stainless steel grades.

    3.  Are you able to hold tight tolerances with 316 stainless steel?

Although 316 stainless steel has a higher tendency to work-harden than does 303 stainless steel, our Swiss CNC equipment and our sharp tooling enable us to hold tolerances down to ±.0004" (0.01mm) on most diameters. We can achieve tighter tolerances on critical features.

    4. Are you able to perform both stainless steel turning and stainless steel milling?

We are a full-service provider of CNC stainless steel machining services that employs Swiss lathes (turning and live milling) and has CNC milling machines with either 3 or 4 axes; therefore, we can produce any stainless steel part that requires either procedure.

    5. What kind of surface finishes can I expect to receive on my stainless steel parts?

The as-turned/as-milled surface finishes that we produce are generally 0.8 – 1.6 µm (Ra), although we also produce mirror finishes (polishing), electropolishing, bead blasting, and passivation.

    6. Are you ISO certified?

Yes; we are ISO 9001:2015 certified. Our manufacturing processes are audited every year, and we can meet additional customer specific quality standards compared to ISO 16949 and 13485 like control in the aerospace industry (when requested).
